PREPARATION

Type of test: Will the test be written or oral? Will it be open-book? What platform and tool to be used? If the teacher did not provide detailed information, regarding kind and rules of the online test, question him beforehand. Try to pose specific questions.

Trial beforehand: If you never used, or you are not used to wether the platform, the tool, or even the software, the teacher will utilize, conduct a trail test in advance. It is important to practice for both online written and oral examinations. In the latter case, you may team up with a colleague for a training session.

Date and time: Check the test’s date and time. If you’re abroad, don’t forget of the corresponding time zone.

Length: Check if a maximum time limit was defined to answer the test, or each question. Some tests, such as open-book exams, may have an extended limit.

Conditions: Make sure you can take the test at home. If you don’t have proper conditions, at home, such as, a silent environment, or stable network connection, identify an alternative place. If you are unable to gather the proper conditions, approach your teacher, or your course director, for help.

Specific instructions: Refer to the test’s instructions provided by the teacher, ahead of time. Check what technological conditions are required, such as a webcam, or scanner.

Support: Find out where and how you may get support prior, during and after taking the test. Get informed on how to act if an unexpected situation, or a technological problem arises, during the test.
